Ideation (Pt2)

Now some characters have been made to at least populate the concept, but this is a racing game, so we gotta make some tracks and their mechanics making a racing game. This is now with the new inclusion of getting rid of the middle class of vehicles as it seemed like it would have been too generic and not served too much of a purpose along development.

Map Design 1

This track itself is fairly simple but incoporates the idea of speed and how it can change the diversity of play, the intended difference is the road types which affects light and heavy vehicles, where the rocky roads are more suited to play for heavy vehicles whilst the steel roads help the light vehicles.

Map Design 2

I wanted to make this track a death trap throughout, all the truns being rigid and hard to move around, adding traps pretty much at every turn, and getting the shortcut would be a hard turn to conquer. It’s a simple test of skill here.

Map Design 3

With this map design specifically, I wanted to created a diverse path, using the idea and health and speed to be opposites. In this case you have a path of two roads, one slowly depletes your health, whilst the other lowers your speed and the goal is find that balance.

However, after through that part there is a underneath straight line with some traps in the middle of it at that point it’s about maneuverability.

Map Design 4

Because of some narrative concepts of Aliens taking over, I thought it was good exciuse to come up with something unique. As these Aliens would happily pay for their entertainment, they would also sponsor some events with new technologies, so why not have a race track on top of a rusty mechanical walking spider which is massive in size. There are middle shortcuts as you can see from the drawing but these slowly break after only 1 use, meaning someone could person could have an advantage but another could easily catch up. The shortcuts don’t break immediately, they just take some time to break from the pressure. I think it was a fairly unique idea
